Position Summary

As a Pipefitter you will be responsible for installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining and repairing mechanical piping systems. Journeyman pipefitters deal with industrial/commercial/marine piping and heating/cooling systems. Typical industrial process pipe is under high pressure, which requires metals such as carbon steel, stainless steel, and many different alloy metals fused together through precise cutting, threading, grooving, bending and welding.

Work Hours (Approximate)

7:00 am – 3:30 pm. Some overtime, evenings, weekends and light travel as needed.

Pay Scale

$20.00 – $25.​00 /​hour

Required Job Qualifications: (including but not limited to)

• Selecting type and size of pipe and related materials according to job specifications, knowledge of system operation, and study of building plans / working drawings
• Planning sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and cutting pipe
• Threading and ending pipe by hand or with pipe bending machine
• Assembling and joining piping by means of threaded, chalked, wiped, soldered, brazed fused, or cemented joints
• Securing pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand tools
• Testing piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges

Education and/or Experience

• Must have a valid driver’s license and good communications skills are required.
• Must have experience installing, assembling, fabricating, maintaining and repairing mechanical piping systems.
• Overtime may be necessary, must be willing to be on call, must be able to pass a drug screen, background check, and have a clean driving record.
